Few footballers in history, if any, have instilled fear in the opposition like Lionel Messi.

From a physical standpoint, the Argentine is not a scary proposition at all. He stands at around 5 ft 7 in and is very slight in build.

But it’s what he can do with the ball at his feet that’s had defenders around the world quivering in their boots for well over a decade.

Messi is arguably the greatest dribbler the sport has ever seen, with his low centre of gravity making him virtually impossible to contain.

Add in the fact that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is a lethal finisher and a playmaker extraordinaire, you have arguably the finest footballer in history.

Due to Messi’s magnificence in most departments, opposing teams spend a lot of time coming up with game plans to try and limit his influence.

That was certainly the case with Brazil ahead of their Copa America semi-final against Argentina back in 2019.

And the Selecao’s preparation for that match – which was completely dominated by Messi – was captured perfectly in the ‘All or Nothing: Brazil National Team’ documentary series on Amazon Prime.
