Floyd Mayweather v Don Moore: "Money's" mid-fight chat with commentators goes viral

Main event participant, event co-promoter, honourary ring card girl – and even mid-fight guest commentator, Floyd Mayweather wore many hats during his exhibition bout with Don Moore on Saturday night.

The 45-year-old Mayweather, who retired as a professional after defeating Conor McGregor back in August 2017, is believed to have earned more than $100 million for his clash with former sparring partner Moore at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi – and he couldn’t have looked any happier to be there.

In truth, the pair’s past sparring encounters were likely significantly more taxing for Floyd than this eight-round spectacle in the UAE.

Mayweather coasted through all 16 minutes of the contest, peppering Moore with jabs at will. He may not have been taking the fight totally seriously, but Floyd was still leagues ahead of his opponent.

Moore’s resistance was eventually broken in the final round as Mayweather floored him with a stiff body shot in the closing seconds of the fight.

Regaining his feet, Moore did manage to see the final bell at the end of a torrid evening. Officially, the exhibition had no winner, but the body language of the two participants afterwards told the story of the night.

Had Mayweather really turned the screw had likely could have halted his opponent whenever he felt like it.

For Floyd, though, the event was all about entertainment – and he certainly provided plenty of that to the appreciative crowd in attendance.

Mayweather danced, beatboxed and jokingly called for the fight’s two-minute rounds to be increased to full three-minute affairs during rest periods.
