Floyd Mayweather reveals Andre Ward wants to fight Jake Paul in exhibition bout

Andre Ward wants to fight Jake Paul in an exhibition bout, according to Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather, 45, and Ward, 38, were among the latest cohort of former boxers to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

The gala event was originally supposed to take place last year but it was pushed back until earlier this month after the ceremony was postponed for the second time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But now the former pound-for-pound greats have become the two newest members of the exclusive prestigious club.

Ward has spent the past few years working as an analyst for ESPN since his retirement in 2017.

The self-appointed ‘Son of God’ officially hung up his gloves five years ago after beating Sergey Kovalev for a second time, leaving him with an unblemished record of 32-0.

But it seems he would love nothing more than to get his hands on Paul, who has taken the boxing world by storm over the last two years, in which time he’s gone a perfect 5-0.

Mayweather said he had spoken to Ward during the ceremony and teased a comeback could be on the horizon.

“I spoke to Andre Ward, if you guys saw us talking on stage at the International Boxing Hall of Fame,” he told a press conference to promote his upcoming fight against Mikuru Nasakura.

“Andre Ward was talking to me and he said he wanted to do, or he didn’t mind doing an exhibition against Jake Paul.”

Speaking about being inducted, Mayweather, who won world titles in four weight divisions, said: “I done a lot in my career, but this is by far the best.

“I want to thank the International Boxing Hall of Fame for giving me this. This right here is going to my dad because he deserves it.
