Five Wolves loan stars can follow Toti Gomes and save Fosun millions on transfers

Wolverhampton Wanderers currently have 24 players out on loan scattered across the globe.

According to their website, the club loaned out another 13 players in the January transfer window.

Adama Traore is the biggest name on that list, although the Spain international’s loan move to Barcelona is expected to be made permanent in July.

Very few of the players on the list will make the grade at Wolves, but Toti Gomes is proof that a pathway exists under current head coach Bruno Lage.

Toti answered Wolves’ SOS call at the beginning of January and deputised for Romain Saiss in wins over Southampton and Brentford.

The defender is the shining example that Wolves’ loan contingent must strive towards.

But which of the two dozen loan players could actually save the club money in the transfer market?

If Sanderson was left-footed, there’s every chance he would have been selected ahead of Toti against Southampton.

The Wednesfield-born defender enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Birmingham City during the first half of the season, and Wolves are hoping he can repeat the trick with promotion-chasing QPR.

Sanderson made his debut as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Reading on Saturday, which leaves QPR in fourth spot in the Championship.

Wolves have already tied Sanderson, 22, down to a long-term contract and there’s every chance he will develop into a Premier League defender.

Having joined Blackburn Rovers, Giles is locked in a battle with Sanderson to win promotion from the Championship.

The rapid left flanker recorded nine assists in 21 games during the first half of the campaign on loan at Cardiff to put himself amongst the most creative players in the second tier.
