Class E driver, Nicholas Fischer, took the early lead in the 2022 BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series held at Zwartkops Raceway this past weekend (28-29 January).
In qualifying on Friday afternoon, William Einkamerer was the lone Class A entrant after Sav Gualtieri couldn't get his car ready on time. But he could not set a time after a kill switch issue and a water pump problem side-lined him. Andreas Meier, reigning champion and Class B competitor, set the fastest time in the session.
Lyle Ramsay headed up the Class C grid while Dawie Olivier, who made his debut, took pole position in Class D. Eugene Gouws was the fastest driver in Class E.

Early lead in Race 1
Meier took an early lead in Race 1 that he did not relinquish. Carlos Garbini gave chase while Thomas Potgieter got into a tangle with Jagger Robertson at Turn 2, spinning out of the race with less than a lap completed. Matthew Wadeley took control in Class C, with Renier Smith and Trevor Long following closely.
In Class D, Riaan Lubbe had passed Dawie Olivier, who was struggling with a clutch issue and led on his debut. Einkamerer had an eventful morning on his way to ninth place in the running order but as the sole Class A competitor.
With ten laps completed, Meier took the race and Class B win from Garbini and Salvi Gualtieri. Further back, Einkamerer took the Class A honours.
