First words as Daniel Grimshaw signs new Blackpool contract and eye exciting future

Goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw wants Blackpool to push on having signed a new three year contract at the club.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on Monday night, ending any transfer speculation around his future. The former Man City youngster had been linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road but said he was 'delighted' to have extended his stay in Lancashire.

Grimshaw made 26 league appearances last season and is expected to be first choice for Pool under new boss Michael Appleton when the new campaign gets under way.

On signing his new contract, Grimshaw said: “We’ve been speaking over the summer about getting this done and I’m delighted to have it all finalised.

“It’s something I was really keen on getting sorted, so to now be in a position where I can focus on the football and be here for the next few years is really pleasing. It’s been a really good first few weeks back in pre-season and everyone is looking to build on last year. It’s an exciting time under the new head coach and we’re all looking to push on this season.”
