First Division wrap: Cork City get back to winning ways

After three games without a victory, the SSE Airtricity Men's First Division's runaway leaders Cork City got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over bottom side Longford Town at Turner's Cross.

Tim Clancy's team had come into the game off the back of draws against UCD and Treaty United which sandwiched a 1-0 loss at Athlone Town.

But a brace from Conor Drinan in the latter part of the first half ensured that Cork would not be extending that unwanted run to four and keeps them nine points clear of UCD at the top as they seek an immediate return to the Premier Division.

Eanna Clancy also got a brace as UCD got the better of second-from-bottom Kerry FC at the Bowl.

The centre-back opened the scoring on 29 minutes, heading in from a corner, but Ryan Kelliher levelled for the visitors shortly after.

However, the Students earned a 2-1 win when Clancy got his second from a Ciaran Behan cross as the game ticked into stoppage time to cement second place.

Cobh Ramblers and Treaty United both kept their hopes of putting pressure on the teams occupying the play-off places alive with 2-0 victories over Finn Harps and Bray Wanderers respectively.

Liam Kervick and David Bosnjak scored in each half for Cobh, whilst Yousef Mahdy and Rob Lynch did so for Limerick club Treaty.
