First Division round-up: Jaden Umeh makes history for Cork but Finn Harps close gap

Jaden Umeh became Cork City's youngster ever goal-scorer but the SSE Airtricity First Division leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by Wexford.

Aged just 16 years and 14 days, it took just three minutes for the Ireland Under-17 international, heavily linked with a move to Portuguese giants Benfica, to score as he swept home from close range after Cian Bargary’s low cross from the right eluded the home defence.

They held the lead at the break, but Wexford were much improved in the second half with Mikie Rowe striking to earn them a point in the 64th minute.

While the leaders were held to a 1-1 draw, the bottom club, Longford Town, did likewise away to Cobh Ramblers.

The home side were back at St Colman’s Park having played at Turner’s Cross due to a recent pitch upgrade, but things didn’t go to plan in the first half as Charlie O’Brien headed into his own net.

David Bosnjak came off the bench to find a leveller just after the hour and while they pushed hard for the win to mark their return to the ground, Longford defended bravely to secure their third draw of the season.

The first half looked like it would be a scoreless one in Donegal, but in the 46th minute a clever quick free-kick routine saw Tony McNamee play in David Cawley and his low driven effort beat Stephen McGuinness at his near post.

Harps pushed hard for a second after the break, but again they had to wait until the final moments of the half with McNamee wrapping up the three points in the 90th minute after the ball broke kindly to him as he advanced into the area.
