First Dates' Fred in tears as daughter wins second diving gold at Commonwealth Games

There were more tears in the diving pool as proud father and First Dates star Fred Sirieix watched his 17-year-old daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix clinched her second gold Commonwealth Games medal.

Spendolini-Sirieix struck gold again at the Birmingham pool in the mixed synchronised 10m platform alongside partner Noah Williams. It was the third medal for Spendolini-Sirieix who has shot to fame during the Games, winning the women’s 10 metre platform title and mixed synchronised silver.

Proud father Fred congratulated his daughter and synchronised diving partner Williams on Twitter and said that he was crying with joy after witnessing the stellar performance.

Television star Sirieix is the maître in Channel 4 dating show First Dates and has also recently appeared in Celebrity Gogglebox alongside fiancée known as 'Fruitcake'.

His daughter Spendolini-Sirieix is also now a household name after winning three Commonwealth Games medals and celebrated the achievement by belly flopping into the Sandwell pool with her England team-mates. Spendolini-Sirieix had not won a major diving competition coming into the Commonwealth Games and said she just wanted to have fun at the Birmingham event.

"It's been incredible," she told the BBC after winning in the mixed synchronised 10m platform. "We came in wanted to have fun and we definitely did. I'm just really pleased with how we executed our dives and our overall synchro. It's been really really fun."

The host nation’s divers topped the medal standings with six golds, four silver and five bronzes.
