Firearms, drugs and robbery: A busy 36 hours for city centre police as 14 arrested
Police in Manchester city centre have arrested 14 people over the last 36 hours.
Officers said they have arrested suspects for possession of a firearm, robbery, drugs, theft, assault and breach of court bail. A wanted man from May 2021 was also detained.
Eight of the suspects have been charged and remanded to appear in court, police said. Three have been bailed with conditions and others remain in custody.

In a tweet, GMP said they have a 'clear message' that those who commit crime will be arrested. The tweet read: "ARRESTS - 14 people arrested in the City over the past 36hrs, for offences of; Robbery, Drugs, Theft, Assault, Possession of a Firearms, Breach of Court Bail & a male wanted from May 2021.
"8 already charged & remanded to court, 3 bailed with conditions & others still in custody."
A further tweet added: "The message is clear from us, if you come into the City and commit crime, we will look to arrest you and put you before the courts."
On Saturday night, the Manchester Evening News reported on an incident in Piccadilly Gardens where two men were attacked. One man was left with serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital.
A cordon was in place after the incident. Police said yesterday that no arrests had been made.
In the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday), three men were arrested for assault after a man was attacked on Bridge Street. The victim was taken to hospital from the scene.
