Fire at National Lottery studio sparks evacuation and delays of Thunderball draw

Tonight's National Lottery's Euromillions and Thunderball draws have been delayed after a fire forced staff to evacuate the main studio.

The National Lottery tweeted the news this evening, Tuesday (March 15) writing that the Thunderball draw had to be carried out at a different site.

The draw is typically streamed to the Youtube channel at around 8pm, however one viewer questioned why it hadn't aired as usual on the video platform.

Responding, the National Lottery confirmed it didn't go ahead due to the fire and that people could check the results online instead. However, the EuroMillions draw did go on to stream live an hour later, at 9pm.

The tweet read: "Hi! This evening’s Thunderball draw was carried out at our secondary draw site due to a fire at the main studio which resulted in an evacuation.

"As a result, there was no live draw video on YouTube. Please check the National Lottery website for all results later."

However, a spokesperson for the Hertfordshire Fire Service told the Mirror they were unaware of a fire at Lottery HQ. Camelot, based in Watford, has run the National Lottery since it started in 1994.
