Fintan Dewhirst wins European U18 silver in Jerusalem
Fintan Dewhirst produced a brilliant run in Jerusalem to take the silver medal in the 400m hurdles at the European Under-18 Championships on Thursday evening.
The Tir Chonaill AC man shaved almost a second off his PB to come home in 51.65.
Norwegian Bastian Elnan Aurstad won gold after a powerhouse performance - his 50.89 is a new world record at the age grade - with Gergo Takacs of Hungary third (51.77).
It's another major stride forward for Donegal man Dewhirst, who will be on the Ireland team for the schools international meeting in Belfast later this month.
