Figures show Nottingham Forest's cash boost for brilliant FA Cup run ahead of Liverpool tie

Nottingham Forest’s brilliant FA Cup run has provided the club with a welcome cash boost of more than £500,000, according to figures from the Football Association.

The Reds reached the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time since 1996 when they saw off Huddersfield Town 2-1 on Monday night.

They came from behind against their Championship rivals courtesy of goals from Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates in front of a bumper crowd at the City Ground.

And that victory sets up a last-eight meeting with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool on the banks of the Trent, which will take place a week on Sunday.

In addition to the Terriers, Forest have also seen off top-flight Arsenal and holders Leicester City on their way to the sixth round.

Should they produce another giant-killing against Jurgen Klopp’s men, they would pick up a cool £360,000 from the competition prize fund.

But as it is, they will receive a £200,000 live broadcast fee for the clash being shown live on ITV.

That will add to the money the Reds have already pocketed for making it this far in the cup.

According to the FA, Forest will have received £82,000 for beating the Gunners, £90,000 for toppling the Foxes and £180,000 for Monday’s win - with further cash likely for those matches being screened on TV.

That makes for a total of at least £552,000 added to the club’s coffers from their cup run.

Should they progress even further, the FA website lists the prize pot for this season as: Semi-final winners - £900,000; semi-final losers - £450,000; final runners-up - £900,000; final winners - £1.8m.

Before next weekend’s glamour tie, though, Steve Cooper’s squad will be concentrating on league action as they continue to push for a play-offs spot.
