FIFA 23: Celtic and Rangers sign licencing deals with EA Sports

Celtic and Rangers have become partners of EA Sports ahead of the release of FIFA 23 next month, the developers have announced, via Video Games Chronicle.

The two Scottish giants have signed four-year partnerships with EA and it means they will receive a degree of unparalleled realism in FIFA 23 and beyond, when the game is converted to EA Sports FC.

It also raises the prospect of both clubs having their stadiums – Celtic Park and Ibrox – being added to the games, while the players will all receive official face scans.

Celtic Park has never been included in an EA Sports football title, while Ibrox was last included in one of their games in FIFA 99.

Both Scottish clubs have long been partners of Konami’s eFootball series, which used to be known as Pro Evolution Soccer.

Their defection to EA Sports will come as a major blow to the developers of eFootball and suggests that they may not be included in further games.

Both clubs had their stadiums included in previous PES games, but this deal could now mean that they are removed entirely and referred to in a different manner, similar to the way EA renamed Juventus as Piemonte Calcio when they signed an exclusive deal with Konami.
