FIA delay results of Red Bull budget cap breach case

The Formula 1 community will have to wait until Monday to discover whether or not Red Bull and Aston Martin breached budget cap rules.

The FIA were set to reveal their findings on Wednesday, but the governing body have now announced that that has been delayed until 10th October.

Last week, it was reported that the two teams had spent over the £130million budget cap that was introduced for the 2021 season in order to promote sporting fairness and financial stability.

It has been suggested that Aston Martin’s breach was only minor, but Red Bull’s was significant which could result in a potential points deduction or even expulsion from the championship.

The FIA’s statement on Wednesday said: ‘The Financial Regulations were agreed unanimously by all Competitors, who have worked positively and collaboratively with the FIA Cost Cap Administration throughout this first year under the Financial Regulations.

‘As previously communicated, there has been significant and unsubstantiated speculation and conjecture in relation to this matter, and the FIA reiterates that until it is finalised, no further information will be provided.

‘The FIA also reiterates that any suggestion that FIA personnel have disclosed sensitive information is equally baseless.’

While still speculation at this point, the news has garnered significant interest from the F1 paddock and fans, given that Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the 2021 title, and both driver and team are on course to win both championship’s this year.

If Red Bull are found guilty on Monday, there could be plenty of backlash as Verstappen stands a very good chance of wrapping his title up at Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.
