Fermanagh hit by exit of key trio

Fermanagh GAA have suffered a triple blow with the news that the Jones brothers, Ryan and Conall, and Seán Quigley will not be available for the 2024 season.

The county confirmed the departures citing "unavoidable work and travel commitments".

"Fermanagh GAA thank them for their services over the years and hope to see them back in the green jersey at some point in the years ahead," said Fermanagh GAA.

Erne County manager Kieran Donnelly was already having to contend with the loss of key forward Ciaran Corrigan who is travelling for the foreseeable future.

It's a tough blow for Fermanagh as they try to build on a positive 2023 season that saw promoted to Division 2. They had also been drawn on the perceived easier side of the Ulster championship with the winners of their quarter-final clash with Armagh going to on to face the winners of Down and Antrim in the provincial semi-final.

Roslea man Quigley has been a heavy scorer ever since his county debut back in 2011 – and it was his late goals against Antrim and Down last year that ultimately secured promotion.

Ryan Jones has been the side’s most dominant midfielder and made his debut against Armagh in 2010. Younger brother Conall is another main attacker for the side. The Derrygonnelly pair had opted out previously in 2021 before rejoining the panel.
