Ferguson gives Tavernier verdict amid Besiktas links, Cerny blasts Czech FA in angry rant - Rangers news bulletin

Vaclav Cerny has hit out at the Czech FA for allowing their home Nations League clash to be completely taken over by visiting Ukraine fans.

The Rangers attacker produced a fine display as his side ran out 3-2 winners in a five-goal thriller. He played a key role in the build-up to a couple of the goals in the Prague encounter but home supporters decided to stay away after a thrashing by Georgia. They lost out 4-1 in their section opener and that result impacted supporters who opted not to attend their second match of the international break double-header with the majority of the ground made up by away punters.

That left the Ibrox winger 'really angry' as he hit out and told Czech football they have to be better and insisted he would rather play in an EMPTY ground. He said: "How can we allow our ground to be like that? We can't allow tickets to be sold like this. I'd rather play in an empty stadium.

"I am a Czech patriot and the game was played in Prague. Everyone saw how bad it looked - it was terrible. I know the mood before the match was not ideal after what happened in Georgia, but we wanted to show our fans what we could do. It was a shame so little of them turned out to watch us.

"I am well aware it has been difficult for our fans, but we cannot allow this to happen again. It just looked wrong for our home game. I am just really angry about it. This wouldn't happen in any other country in the world. Czech football has got to be better than this."

Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson admits he is 'unsure' whether James Tavernier will stay or leave Rangers. The Turkish transfer window remains open for business and former boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst - who is a big fan - has been linked with a swoop at Besiktas.
