Federico Valverde: Footage shows Real Madrid ace got revenge on RB Leipzig’s David Raum

Federico Valverde produced a celebration that will be remembered by Real Madrid fans for years to come during Wednesday’s 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

The Uruguayan midfielder celebrated wildly after breaking the deadlock in the 80th minute.

But what sparked Valverde’s passionate celebration? Footage involving RB Leipzig’s David Raum appears to have provided the answer.

Valverde, who joined Real Madrid in 2016 from Penarol, has enjoyed a fine start to the 2022-23 season.

The South American scored a sensational solo goal in Madrid’s 4-1 win over Mallorca last weekend.

His goal against RB Leipzig was similar in the sense that he cut onto his left foot before curling the ball into the opposite corner of the net.

However, Valverde lost it after scoring his latest goal, pumping his fists while roaring.

One particular camera angle shows that he was celebrating directly in front of Raum. It seems the Uruguay international was exacting revenge on the defender following an incident earlier in the match.

It turns out that Raum had celebrated in Valverde’s face earlier in the game after blocking a cross.

Valverde looked less than impressed with his opponent’s behaviour as the referee intervened.

And as soon as he scored his goal, Valverde spotted Raum and didn’t hold back with his celebration.
