Federico Dimarco admission answers transfer question amid Manchester United links

Despite their recent struggles, Manchester United rarely have trouble when it comes to attracting players to Old Trafford.

Playing for United is still a dream for most professionals, mainly thanks to the legacy created by Sir Alex Ferguson. As we have seen with Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund, there are still players who dream of walking out at Old Trafford.

However, attempting to sign Federico Dimarco, a player who has occasionally been linked with the club of late, from Inter Milan will see the Reds put into an unfamiliar position. By all accounts, the left-back is in no rush to leave his hometown club.

When Dimarco signed a new contract last year, the 25-year-old revealed his delight at having extended his stay. "I have been going to the stadium to watch Inter games since I was two years old," he explained.

"This is certainly not a jersey like any other for me. I've been an Interista since birth and even when I was on loan at Verona, the fans kept asking me to return. I feel loved here."

Dimarco's love for Inter is still strong after 50 appearances this campaign. Ahead of the Champions League final, he told UEFA Champions League Magazines: "Since I was born my family has passed on their love for Inter to me.

"Playing here, I’ve fulfilled a dream. Playing in the Champions League final is not something that happens every day. Especially for Inter, who have won it three times. Every boy dreams of playing these matches."

His love for Inter may make it difficult for United to persuade him to switch to the Premier League should they make a move. While Dimarco's ability to play across the left-hand side would add healthy competition to Ten Hag's squad, Dimarco
