Faversham Town looking to move three points behind leaders South Park with a game in hand as manager Steve Watt assesses positive start to the season

Manager Steve Watt says Faversham Town are raring to go as they bid to reel in league leaders South Park this weekend.

The sides meet in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday (3pm), with fifth-placed Town aiming to move three points behind their table-topping visitors with a game in hand.

Free-scoring Faversham have had a blip, taking one point from the last three games, but there’s no better way to get back on track than taking on the leaders.

The Lilywhites, who drew 0-0 with Erith Town last weekend, are set to welcome back key midfielder Jack Evans in a big boost to their victory chances.

“The last three league games haven’t been the results we wanted,” said Watt.

“We’d have liked a better return but we still find ourselves fifth, playing the leaders at home on Saturday, and if we win that game it puts us three points behind them with a game in hand, so it’s been a positive start to the season.

“Every game we approach, we expect to win.

“That’s the pressure that comes with being at this football club and what we’re trying to do.

“We’re expected to win and we expect to win.

“That’s not to say we don’t know how tough the games are going to be. We treat everyone with respect.

“No one’s going to roll over for us. If anything, we get everyone's best version of themselves.

“South Park have had a great start to the season and it should be a really good game of football.

“The boys are raring to go. They’re looking forward to it.

“You want to be top of the league at the end of the season, not necessarily this early.

“It’s nice to be up there but you also have a target on your back.

“They’re coming to town and if our boys need that extra bit of incentive to win a game of football, not that they should, there’s nothing better
