Faversham Town eye unbeaten February - in peculiar circumstances - as they host Lancing at Salters Lane this weekend

James Collins is aiming for an unbeaten February for Faversham - even if it does come in peculiar circumstances.

Town travelled to Whitehawk on Saturday but, amid terrible weather conditions, the match was postponed late on due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Lilywhites have now gone two weeks since their last fixture.

Town manager Collins admitted: “It will be good to play again.

“I wanted to stay unbeaten this month - and we have only got one game to go now! I’m looking forward to Saturday.

“Hopefully we can back up our last couple of performances (having started the month with a home win over Burgess Hill and a draw against VCD).”

On the decision to call off the match at Whitehawk, Collins added: “It’s the second time we have been away and it’s been called off on the day (they had been due to visit Burgess Hill earlier in the season when that game was called off).

“I’m not going to moan, because it feels like that’s all I’ve done this season, but it sums up our season.

"By the end of the season, we are going to have done Lancing, Burgess Hill and Whitehawk all on Tuesday nights.

“We were disappointed it was called off but it is what it is, it’s out of our control.”

Winger Tyrell Richardson-Brown would have missed the match but Collins hopes he will be available for this Saturday’s Isthmian South East home fixture against Lancing.

The current loan deals for young Gillingham full-back Alex Giles and on-loan Dover midfielder Marshall Wratten are also due to expire soon.

Lancing are 16th in the table, five points clear of the potential relegation play-off spot.
