FAU's Johnell Davis enters portal, will also declare for 2024 NBA draft - ESPN

Florida Atlantic star guard Johnell Davis has entered the transfer portal and plans to declare for the NBA draft, he announced on Tuesday.

Davis officially entered the transfer portal late Tuesday night and is now able to be contacted by other college coaches. He's arguably the best player in the portal this spring.

A 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Indiana, Davis shared AAC Player of the Year honors this season after averaging 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists — all career-highs. He also shot a career-best 41.4% from 3-point range.

In FAU's biggest win of the campaign, Davis went for 35 points and nine rebounds to lead the Owls to a win over Arizona in Las Vegas.

Davis also played a key role on FAU's Final Four team in 2022-23, averaging 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds and moving into the starting lineup for the final 13 games of the season. He had 29 points and 12 rebounds in the second-round win over Fairleigh Dickinson.

Florida Atlantic has now lost four players to the transfer portal since head coach Dusty May left for Michigan last month. Davis follows starting center Vladislav Goldin, reserve guard Nick Boyd — who was a starter on the Final Four team — and reserve big man Giancarlo Rosado.

Last week, FAU hired Baylor assistant John Jakus as May's replacement.
