F1: Carlos Sainz explains Red Bull's edge over Ferrari in 2022

Carlos Sainz has given his thoughts on Red Bull’s edge over Ferrari in 2022 and the reasons for it.

Red Bull can be crowned Formula 1 Constructors’ champions next time out at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, with them really dominating this year in the end.

Indeed, it had looked as though they and Ferrari could be in a season-long duel for supremacy but whilst Red Bull got on top of their reliability issues pretty early on, Ferrari’s lasted a little longer and, indeed, some of their strategy errors have cost them at times as well.

Ultimately, there's just been a better level of consistency shown from Red Bull across the board in terms of their performance this season and it is that all-round factor that Sainz believes has given them the edge over Ferrari.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper AS, Sainz was asked about where Red Bull had done a better job and he said the complete package and strength they have is what is set to secure them a double championship win in 2022.

"It's the car, it's the driver, it's the team, it's the strategy, it's the pitstops.

"They do so many races without making a mistake - doing things perfectly. On top of that, when Max fails or spins, they are able to solve it quickly."

That's the difference and the reason they are dominating.

Ferrari obviously want to get to that level of consistency at every race weekend, with them showing when they are on it this year they can be a real match for Red Bull.

Those weekends have not happened enough for various reasons, though, and both Sainz and Charles Leclerc will hope things can change up for next season.
