Experienced Kapp relishing St George's homecoming: 'We know what we have to do'

All-rounder Marizanne Kapp is looking forward to playing in front of her home crowd for the first time as South Africa hosts Australia in Gqeberha on Saturday.

The Proteas face the defending champions in a crucial Group A encounter of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup at St George's Park.

Before that fixture, Australia play Sri Lanka at St George's Park on Thursday.

Regardless of the outcome of that game, it becomes imperative that the Proteas win their next two games, first against the Australians and then Bangladesh on Tuesday, to keep their semi-final fate in their hands.

The SA women come off a resounding 67-run triumph over New Zealand after losing the tournament's opening match against Sri Lanka last week.

Kapp, who has played 221 international matches for SA, will be making her first international appearance at her home ground in Gqeberha.

"I'm extremely excited ... It's going to be so special because it is going to be in front of my family and home crowd," said Kapp.

"I know Gqeberha hasn't been blessed with many, if any, international games in the past 13 or 14 years that I have been playing.

"I know there are going to be many young girls supporting me and the team who haven't had the opportunity to watch us play live, that is going to be something very special."

Kapp, who took two for 13 in Monday's win against the White Ferns, has yet to sparkle in the Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa and will be hoping to do so at her home ground this weekend.

The Windy City will be hosting a blockbuster double-header on Saturday, with England taking on India at 15:00 before the Proteas women take to the field against the Aussies.
