'Exceptional' 66-goal Celtic man tipped to be 'moved on'

Albian Ajeti’s Celtic days are numbered as the Hoops are likely to sell the frontman in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Ajeti joined the Scottish Premiership giants in a £5million deal from West Ham United in the summer of 2020, but the switch has failed to pay off.

According to Football Insider, Celtic are set to tell Ajeti he is free to find a new club as he does not feature in boss Ange Postecoglou’s future plans.

The report suggests the Hoops will listen to offers for the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window, although a loan move is thought to be more likely.

It comes after Ajeti had got his Celtic career off to a promising start, with club legend Scott Brown describing him as ‘exceptional’ merely weeks after his arrival in Glasgow.

But the goals have well and truly dried up, with the last of Ajeti’s nine efforts coming in September.

The 11-cap Switzerland international has found the back of the net 66 times over the course of his senior club career but a long-term hamstring injury has resulted in him being unable to enjoy any Scottish Premiership action since November.

Jones firmly believed the move to Celtic would pay off for Ajeti, who still has just shy of two-and-a-half years remaining on his £18,000-per-week contract.

But the transfer insider has tipped the Bhoys to sanction the Swiss striker’s exit before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It was a move that I thought would be quite exciting when he first went in, but it hasn’t worked out for him.

“I think, with the way the Celtic forwards are performing now, it is looking likely that he will be moved on.”
