Ex-Kaizer Chiefs boss back in Bloemfontein as head coach of PSL strugglers

The former Bafana Bafana mentor, who was replaced by current national boss Hugo Broos, had been without a job since his sacking by Amakhosi last season but will now return to the Free State in a bid to revive Gallants' fortunes.

Ntseki initially joined Chiefs as Head of Technical and Development before being appointed head coach ahead of the 2023/24 season.

However, his tenure was short-lived, lasting only 13 games.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach now faces a daunting task, with Gallants currently sitting 14th in the league standings, having amassed just four points from six matches.

"Marumo Gallants Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Molefi Ntseki as the club's new Technical Director. This strategic appointment is aimed at strengthening the club's technical department and driving the success of the team on the field," the club said in a statement.

"Ntseki comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge, having coached various national youth teams, Kaizer Chiefs and becoming the South African senior national team's manager.

"His impressive track record and passion for developing young talent make him an ideal fit for the club. Hailing from Botshabelo, he has a deep understanding of the Free State province and fans, which is an added bonus to the Bloemfontein-based Gallants squad."

Ntseki will get his first taste of being in the Gallants dugout on Friday away to SuperSport United as the Premiership resumes.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
