Manchester United are closing in on their fifth signing of the summer in the form of long-term target Antony from Dutch giants Ajax.

United, who posted their second successive win on Saturday, beating Southampton 1-0 at St Mary's, had identified Antony as one of their top targets before this summer's transfer window opened. However, the Reds cooled their interest in the 22-year-old after Ajax slapped an eye-watering, big-money price tag on his head.

United, though, have revived their interest in the Brazil international over the past fortnight or so and are now edging closer to bringing him to Old Trafford. They have agreed a fee with Ajax and he is expected to arrive in England today (Monday).

His arrival will bring their search for a new winger to an end, with manager Erik ten Hag having been determined to bring in a new attacking option all summer.

It is understood that Antony will join United for a complete total of €100million (£84.4m), making him their second most expensive signing of all-time. Unsurprisingly, the price tag has raised plenty of eyebrows ahead of the deal being fully completed, with the Brazilian only having made a name for himself in the Eredivisie.
