Everything Danny McGuire said after Hull KR's defeat to St Helens

Overall, I think the big thing in sport is the outcome is everything. What you do in a week is all about what you get at a weekend. We lost so there's that element of disappointment and nobody likes losing. Everyone is disappointed, you can tell by the body language, but you know what, we had a real dig in that second half and some parts of the first half.

We went toe to toe with the best team in the competition and we've got to be really proud of that. I've seen teams this year be in similar situations and roll over and get 50 or 60 put on them. We didn't do that and we can take tonnes and tonnes from that, we scored three tries each in the second half. We didn't kick our goals, if we do the scoreline looks healthier and looks like a tussle.

Don't get me wrong, some things in there, Saints' first-half tries were a bit easy, they stripped us a bit easy and there wasn't enough desperation to save tries but we reacted, responded and played some really nice rugby in that first half. Jez was sensational again, Mikey started to come into the game, our forwards started to pass to each other and our edges looked dangerous. In the main, obviously disappointed we lost but proud of their guts and determination to hang in there.

People will say they took their foot off the gas. When you are 26-0 up you potentially do ease off the gas but we threw some punches and started to challenge them a little bit. They're ruthless and keep going, they're happy to put 60 points on you and not care how you feel. We threw some shots back and scored some good tries. They'll know they've been in a tussle, there will be some bruised bodies in their camp.
