Everton: Lampard has 'asked board' to sign £62k-a-week star at Goodison Park

Everton manager Frank Lampard asked for the club to sign Conor Coady on a permanent basis several weeks ago, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The £62,000 per-week star has made an instant impact since arriving on loan from Wolves back and has already been linked with a permanent move to Goodison Park.

Having fallen out of favour at Molineux under the guidance of Bruno Lage at the beginning of this season, Coady made the loan switch to Everton just before the transfer window slammed shut.

Following a long-term injury to Ben Godfrey, Coady came straight into Lampard’s starting XI and has kept his place ever since, playing a huge role in the Toffees’ climb up the Premier League standings.

According to The Telegraph, with just two years left on the defender’s Wolves contract by next summer, Coady will be available for £4.5m.

The report claims that Everton will make their move to sign the 29-year-old before the end of the season.

And Phillips reckons that Lampard has already asked the Goodison Park hierarchy for the signing of Coady on a permanent deal.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I was actually told some weeks back that Frank Lampard has already asked the Everton board to sign Coady, he has no doubts.”

Eyebrows were raised when Coady made the switch to Everton, not just because he started his playing career at Liverpool, but because he was Wolves’ captain and has hardly missed a game since their promotion four years ago.

But Coady has already justified his move to Stanley Park and quickly made his presence felt, with the Toffees now going great guns following a testing start to the season.
