Everton: Key update emerges on Anthony Gordon's Goodison future

Everton winger Anthony Gordon ‘wants to remain’ at the club ‘for as long as he possibly can’, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 21-year-old’s performances have been one of the few positives for the Toffees this season as they’ve continued to struggle at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

Gordon made his first-team debut back in December 2019, but the current campaign has been his real breakout season.

And Gordon’s underlying numbers are equally as impressive, showcasing the true potential that he possesses.

As per FBref, the hard-working forward has ranked in the 99th percentile for tackles, the 97th for blocks and the 93rd for pressure amongst players in his position over the last year.

Meanwhile, his tallies of 1.3 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.6 crosses per Premier League game throughout 2021/22 places him in the top five for each metric when compared to his teammates, as per WhoScored.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that Gordon has featured in Everton’s last 23 top-flight fixtures either from the off or as a substitute.

With the Goodison Park outfit lingering near the relegation zone, and Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who has commercial ties to club, having his assets frozen, some star players have been linked with an imminent exit.

But Jones has revealed that Gordon is determined to remain with his boyhood club for as long as it’s feasibly possible to do so.
