Everton: Huge Frank Lampard decision at Goodison would be 'massive shock'

Everton sacking Frank Lampard at this stage of the season would be pointless, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Lampard has only been in the managerial hotseat at Goodison Park for a little over two months, but his position is already coming under scrutiny after an underwhelming start.

Having been officially unveiled on the final day of January, Lampard was tasked with turning Everton’s fortunes around after a dismal run of results under his predecessor Rafael Benitez.

In their home matches, Everton have looked bright at times, picking up wins over Leeds and Newcastle, while they also pushed Manchester City all the way before eventually losing by a single goal.

Their form on the road has been dire, though. The Toffees have lost all four of their away matches in the league under Lampard, while they were also thrashed by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Selhurst Park last month.

Heading into the final run-in, Everton find themselves just three points above the relegation zone, and they have a huge clash with fellow strugglers Burnley on Wednesday.

Lampard is under pressure to start delivering results, and there have been reports that Everton are showing an interest in Rennes manager Bruno Genesio.

However, Brown does not expect Lampard to be replaced before the end of the season.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t think there would be any point in Everton making another change this season. It would be a massive shock if they were to go through another manager.”
