Everton: Frank Lampard could have 'massive injury boost' vs Spurs
The return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a “massive boost” for Everton, according to journalist Paul Brown.
Calvert-Lewin had endured a torrid campaign with injuries but could be in line to play some part against Tottenham tonight.
It’s been an incredibly frustrating season for the England striker, whose injuries have restricted him to just eight Premier League outings.
Calvert-Lewin started the first three games this term but would then miss the next four months with a fractured toe.
He finally made his comeback in early February, although he’s been back on the treatment table in recent days, missing the defeat to Manchester City and FA Cup game against Boreham Wood with an abductor injury.
However, Frank Lampard said on Friday that he was “hopeful” the 24-year-old could train over the weekend, which could make him available for the trip to North London.
Three of Everton’s six Premier League victories have come with Calvert-Lewin in the starting line-up, while Lampard’s side have managed just three top-flight wins from 16 games without their talisman involved.
Therefore, Brown didn’t underplay the importance of potentially having the striker back in action for the trip to Tottenham.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Calvert Lewin’s injuries this season have been a bit of a worry. When he did that first one, I don’t think it was clear how long he would be out for.
“It kept him out for a lot longer than they’d hoped, so any new injury he suffers now is a bit of a worry, because you worry that the same thing that could happen.
“But it sounds like he’s got a chance of playing tonight, which would be a massive boost.”
