Everton flop Cenk Tosun shares emotional goodbye, with next move already mapped out

Cenk Tosun has taken to social media to confirm his departure from Everton this summer, insisting that he will “always be an Evertonian”.

Tosun has spent four and a half years at Goodison Park and will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract in June. During his time at the club, Tosun has appeared 50 times despite spending two spells on loan.

The striker joined Everton from Bestikas in 2018 and has been in and out of the fold amid moves to Besiktas and Crystal Palace.

Over the last two years, Tosun has been riddled with injuries, missing a whopping 46 matches for Everton and Bestikas combined.

Despite not playing as much as he would’ve wanted to, Tosun took to his Instagram account and delivered a farewell to the Toffees fanbase.

“Dear Blue Family, I had a great four and a half years as a member of your family with ups and downs and now unfortunately it is time to say goodbye,” he said.

“I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, staff, board members, and the chairman I had worked with.

“And of course, I would like to thank our fans! I loved it to be an Evertonian and I will always be an Evertonian.

“I have nothing but love for this club! This club has so much potential and I am sure soon Everton will have better days and when the day comes I will be celebrating as well. Take care, Cenk Tosun.”

The 30-year-old will no doubt be on the lookout for his next challenge, hoping a team will take a punt on his abilities.

The striker will be looking for his next playground to ply his trade. Tosun hasn’t lived up to his eye-watering price tag of £28million.

Despite this, however, the forward’s next destination seems all but settled. After spending some time on loan at Bestikas, the club looks set to make his move
