Everton are renowned for their failures when it comes to making bad transfer decisions ever since Farhad Moshiri took ownership of the club, and they’ve had another howler this season in hindsight after failing to secure a deal for Dejan Kulusevski in January.

In the mid-season transfer window, Everton were one of many clubs interested in signing the Swedish attacker but failed to secure the signature of the player and, as a result, he is now on a 18-month loan deal with Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

The Toffees were reported to have made a concrete enquiry to Juventus for the 21-year-old but never lodged an official bid for the player, which paved the way for Spurs to take their chances and swoop in. Since successfully securing Kulusevski’s services, the young talent has been hugely impactful for the north Londoners.

The £110k-p/w star – who was dubbed “pure class” by BBC pundit Garth Crooks – has scored twice and set up his team-mates four times already in just nine Premier League appearances for Spurs so far, with Conte already thoroughly impressed with the Sweden international.

The 52-year-old told Sky Sports after Spurs’ 3-1 victory over West Ham United last weekend: “We are talking about an important prospect. He is very young, only 21 years old, and despite his young age, he has good experience.”

According to SofaScore, along with his impressive goal contributon record, Kulusevski has made his presence known all over the pitch in his short time in the Premier League. He has created five big chances, played 1.7 key passes per game, been successful in the majority of his dribbles (57%) and taken 2.1 shots per match.
