Everton eyeing £20m swoop for "inspired" £27k-p/w "baller", he's the next Richarlison - opinion

Everton have been linked with a summer move for Watford attacker Emmanuel Dennis.

According to a recent report from the Evening Standard, the 24-year-old is among the names on the Toffees’ list of potential players to replace Richarlison, who recently joined Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £60m.

The report added that the Hornets could be tempted to sell if an offer of around £20m comes in for their star striker.

Bearing in mind how industrious Richarlison was for Frank Lampard’s side last season in terms of his attacking play, as he had more shots at goal (70) and more goal-creating actions (eight) than any other Everton player in the league, it would be a mistake for the club not to add at least one new attacking player to the squad this summer.

Watford signed Dennis from Belgian outfit Club Brugge on a five-year deal last summer. During his debut campaign at Vicarage Road, the 24-year-old found the net 10 times and provided six assists in 33 league appearances.

Along with delivering more goal contributions than any other Hornets player, the Nigerian also had more shots at goal (61), shots on target (27), shot-creating actions (91) and successful dribbles (73) than any other player at the club.

This backs up why journalist Henry Winter described Watford’s signing of the former Brugge marksman on Twitter as an “inspired” move from the club.

Having labelled himself a “baller,” the attacker certainly showed during his first season in England that he has what it takes to be a dangerous figure in the Premier League.

Therefore, with Richarlison now having waved goodbye to Goodison Park for his new Premier League challenge with Tottenham, bringing in Dennis could be the best way for Everton to replace the Brazilian.
