Evander Holyfield's son, Evan, gets brutally knocked out in massive upset
Evan Holyfield, who is the son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield, was knocked out in the second round of his clash with Jurmain McDonald in spectacular style during Saturday’s Trillerverz 5 event.
The overhand right from McDonald caught Holyfield flush, and that was all she wrote.
Holyfield was the strong favourite heading into this six-round contest with a perfect 9-0 record up against McDonald’s 6-5 record. Not only that, but some bookies even had Evan a 1/100 favourite!
That rather underwhelming record of McDonald flattered him, with the opponents from his six victories holding a combined record of 8-55-2.
What makes the result even more surprising and shocking is that McDonald is an electrician by day and fits his boxing training and gym work around that, whilst Evan has dedicated himself full-time in an effort to establish his own boxing career.
Saturday night’s defeat against McDonald is a blow to those goals and is sure to put his progress back significantly. Evan wasn’t backing down from his goals on social media, though, as his Twitter post shows he still has his sights on being a world champion in the future.
