European wrap: Gonzalez propels Fiorentina up the table
Nicolas Gonzalez scored his sixth goal of the season to fire Fiorentina to a 3-0 win over Cagliari on Monday night.
Argentinian attacker Gonzalez opened the scoring after only three minutes when visitors Cagliari failed to deal with a free-kick into the area and he fired home after Boris Radunovic could not claim the cross.
It was 2-0 to Fiorentina soon after when Alberto Dossena deflected Michael Kayode's cross into his own net.
Vincenzo Italiano's team wrapped up the scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time when substitute M'Bala Nzola raced through and chipped into the net to send the hosts up to fifth after a fourth league success of the Serie A campaign.
Elsewhere, Torino and Verona played out a goalless draw at Olimpico Grande Torino while Lorenzo Colombo's 66th-minute effort earned Monza a 1-0 win at Sassuolo.
There was late drama in La Liga where Marc Cardona scored a winner deep in added time for Las Palmas in a 2-1 home win over Celta Vigo.
Rafael Benitez watched Celta take the lead after 67 minutes when Jonathan Bamba found Tasos Douvikas, who fired home the opener.
It looked like Celta would depart Las Palmas with all three points until Cardona won a spot-kick, after a foul by Carl Starfelt, which was converted by Jonathan Vieira three minutes from time.
Better was to follow for the hosts with Cardona sparking wild celebrations when he found the net from Vieira's pass in the seventh minute of stoppage time to earn Las Palmas a memorable win.
