Euro 2022 winners England sell out Wembley in 24 hours for US friendly

The Lionesses have sold out Wembley for a friendly with the United States in just one day.  

The match was announced yesterday to capitalise on England’s remarkable success at Euro 2022. 

A record-breaking 87,192 fans packed out Wembley on Sunday to watch the Lionesses defeat Germany 2-1 and clinch European glory. 

It was England’s first major title since the men’s side won the World Cup in 1966, and the thrilling final left football fans wanting more.

General admission tickets for the match against the US sold out in 24 hours and 14 minutes, with only hospitality options remaining. This suggests that nearly 90,000 tickets have been snapped up. 

The US, four-time World Cup winners, have long been viewed as the standard for national teams around the world.

They defeated England 2-1 in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup, going on to win the title after beating the Netherlands in the final.
