Hosts England have enjoyed a perfect start to the competition.

The Lionesses finished at the top of Group A with a maximum of nine points from three wins, without conceding a single goal.

They netted an unrivalled 14 goals throughout their meetings with Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland. England’s impressive tally has set a new record for the most goals scored during any European Championships group stage.

Their 1-0 opening win against Austria was a little nervy but the following 8-0 and 5-0 victories shut down any doubt of them going far in this tournament.

Beth Mead has undoubtedly been England’s most crucial player when it comes to finding the back of the net.

The Arsenal winger currently has five goals in three matches — the most scored by any player during the group stages of the Euros.

Mead is also tied with Alan Shearer on most goals scored for England at a single European tournament. One more goal in the quarter-finals will see the 27-year-old set a new record for her country.
