Esme Morgan believes Man City are set to reap reward after Euro 2022
Manchester City's Esme Morgan believes her and her teammates will receive a significant boost this season thanks to the surge in interest in women's football.
City women's team will kick off their FA Women's Super League season with an eagerly anticipated meeting with Arsenal on Sunday, a match that could see up to nine of England's Euro 2022 heroes feature at the City Academy Stadium. The Lionesses' EUROs triumph this summer — the first major tournament won by an England team since 1966 — has sparked a wave on interest in the women's game, with City and other clubs reporting a huge increase in season ticket and individual ticket sales.
There will be a near sell-out crowd in attendance to see Gareth Taylor's side take on the 15-times English top flight champions. And Morgan believes that this season City could really benefit from supporters getting fully behind them.
