Erling Haaland 'rejects' first Man City wage proposal and more transfer rumours

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has reportedly rejected Manchester City's first approach, according to reports.

The Blues have made the Norwegian their top priority for bolstering their striking options after failing in their efforts to sign Harry Kane last summer. Following Sergio Aguero's exit, City have been forced to play with a false-nine in their front three — something Pep Guardiola deployed during his successful tenure with Barcelona.

They face stern competition to sign Haaland, who has fired his way to becoming one of the most feared attackers in Europe following his emergence at RB Salzburg. La Liga giants Real Madrid are also said to be heavily interested in the Dortmund striker as they weigh up their options, amid interest in signing PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe as well.

Spanish outlet AS reports that City's £500,000-per-week offer to Haaland was knocked back as he awaits to hear from the Liga leaders. This summer is set to be a busy one for both Haaland and City as they look to win the race to snap up the prospect.

There is a £63m release clause in his current deal at Signal Iduna Park, which will become active, this summer. Although, it has been said Haland has turned down the first proposal, he hasn't completely shut the door on the Premier League champions.

Meanwhile, City could tie down three of their stars, according to the Daily Star. Guardiola is said to be looking to extend the stays of Rodri, Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan. Since arriving, Rodri has been an integral cog in their midfield while both Gundogan and Mahrez have cropped up with some vital goals this season and last.
