Erling Haaland issues five-word social media message after completing Man City transfer

New Manchester City recruit Erling Haaland has issued a short message on social media after completing his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Just over a month since City announced that they had reached an agreement with German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund to sign the striker, the club has officially unveiled the striker as their second signing of the summer. He has put pen to paper on a five-year deal and is understood to have joined the club in a deal worth £51million.

Haaland's arrival at the Etihad Stadium has brought City's pursuit of a replacement for Sergio Aguero to a conclusion, with the club having been desperate to source a new out-and-out striker since Sergio Aguero departed at the end of the 2020/21 campaign. In the Norwegian, City have sourced an outstanding talent, who scored a staggering 86 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund.

As a result of that record, he was a target for a plethora of European giants, including the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and cross-city rivals Manchester United. But Haaland, like his father, Alf-Inge, has settled on a move to M11, meaning Pep Guardiola has finally laid his hands on the goalscorer he has been craving.

And following confirmation of his arrival at the Etihad, Haaland, who scored twice to help Norway beat Sweden 3-2 in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday evening, has taken to social media to issue a short statement in reaction to his move being announced. On Twitter, he posted: "The wait is finally over! #mancity @ManCity."
