Erik ten Hag thanks Manchester United fans after hearing new chant for first time

Incoming manager Erik ten Hag has thanked Manchester United fans after hearing the new chant supporters have created for their next permanent boss.

The 52-year-old was appointed to replace Ralf Rangnick at the end of the campaign in preparation for the 2022-23 season. And Reds fans have wasted no time creating a song to welcome their new manager.

This season has been a disappointing one from a United standpoint. Since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, there has been little to cheer about with a title challenge never materalising and limp displays in the cups, but the imminent arrival of Ten Hag has created a buzz around Old Trafford ahead of what looks to be a busy summer.

Footage emerged on social media following United's comfortable 3-0 win over Brentford where the supporters were seen chanting: "One Hag, two Hag, three Hag, four Hag, five Hag, six Hag, seven Hag, eight Hag, nine Hag, ten Hag."

Reacting to the chant, he said: "I have seen that. It’s creative. Playful, fun."

For the time being, the Ajax boss is looking to steer the record Eredivisie holders to their third successive crown and finish his tenure in his homeland on a high.
