Erik ten Hag targets 'next Ruben Dias' and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United are set to pursue Sporting Lisbon prospect Goncalo Inacio during the summer transfer window - according to reports. United are ready to prioritise central midfield signings for next season, but they are also in the market for a new centre-back.

That is despite key figures in the boardroom splashing out £34million on Raphael Varane last summer. Compared to Manchester City defender Ruben Dias throughout his progression, Inacio has played 67 matches since bursting onto the scene with Sporting and was part of their title-winning squad last season.

The 20-year-old has also won three domestic cups and been capped twice by Portugal U21s. Interest in the Sporting defender has come to the fore via Correio da Manha.

Indeed, the Portuguese outlet suggest Inacio is one of the top defensive targets for Erik ten Hag this summer as the Dutchman prepares to start his new role as permanent United manager. Ten Hag will spend the rest of the season at Ajax before touching down at Old Trafford and turning his attention to the impending rebuild.

Inacio would cost around the £38.5million mark. He also has four years left to run on his Sporting contract.

Elsewhere, reports linking United with a move for Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia have been rocked - after talks were held between his representatives and French side Olympic Lyon. Ten Hag is thought to be a big admirer of the full-back having watched him from afar during his time in the Eredivisie.

Along with other areas a new full-back is understood to be on the United shopping list. However, according to The Express, Lyon are favourites for Malacia's signature as things stand as discussions
