Erik ten Hag's new transfer targets could grab ideal shirt numbers at Manchester United

Manchester United are starting to put their transfer plans in place as Erik ten Hag eyes-up at least two major signings to continue his rebuild. England captain Harry Kane is the prime target in the search for a new striker and Ten Hag also wants to bring in a dynamic midfielder this summer.

Further incomings will depend on outgoings - and United have been urged to be more ruthless in that regard when the market reopens - as the club remain open to selling Harry Maguire, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and others. They also have back-up recruits in mind.

While holding firm interest in Kane and keeping tabs on Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen - who has scored 25 goals in all competition this season - United have also jotted down Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani on their shopping list in the pursuit for a reliable goal-getter to ease the burden on Marcus Rashford.

Hojlund and Muani only switched clubs last season, but United are among leading European sides who have been impressed by their development. Hojlund has netted eight goals for Atalanta this season while his early impact on the international scene has been devastating.

Indeed, the 20-year-old has five goals from his first four outings for Denmark at senior level. France frontman Muani has, meanwhile, totted-up 16 goals in 35 appearances for Germany side Eintracht Frankfurt this season, while he also played in the World Cup showpiece.
