Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United target for 2024/25 season after win against Brentford

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Manchester United's target for the season is to win another trophy.

Ten Hag won the Carabao Cup during his first year in charge and delivered the FA Cup last season, despite finishing eighth in the Premier League and recording a minus goal difference.

The victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final saved Ten Hag's job. He faced enormous pressure at the end of 2023/24 due to disappointing results in the league and United sounded out other managers over their availability in the build-up to the final.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe backed Ten Hag to remain in charge after winning a trophy for the second successive season and the Dutchman has identified another piece of silverware as his target for this term.

Speaking on Sunday night, Ten Hag said: "Thanks to the Football Writers' Association for the invitation, I really love to be here and together to meet all the managers, who also get rewards for their big achievements and then with the togetherness of all the media, it will be a nice evening.

"You have to live for now in football, so it's [trophies] all in the past, but you have to prove every day, prove yourself every season, so we have to go for it.

"We are just at the start of the season, but of course, that is a target, to win a trophy again. The spirit has always been high, but of course, it helps, the mood will be better if we win.

"Everyone has high expectations of our team so we have to win every game and go for it. We have to be determined and when we win, we enjoy it for 24 hours and then we move on."

United returned from the international break
