Erik ten Hag knows how he can solve Sir Alex Ferguson's main Manchester United concern

As Erik ten Hag made his way back to the Manchester United dressing room in the aftermath of Sunday's Carabao Cup celebrations at Wembley, Sir Alex Ferguson was waiting to greet him.

Just days after they were pictured dining out together at Cibo in Wilmslow they were reunited to celebrate the club clinching its first piece of silverware in six years. The legendary Scot has, of course, remained part of the inner circle at United and it is rare that he misses a game.

Though he is often present at Old Trafford or wherever else United might be playing, it is rare for him nowadays to speak to the media. However, perhaps feeling jovial after the Reds finally ended their trophy drought, he was happy to do a rare TV interview with the rights holders after the 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

Ferguson was asked about the final itself and the impact Ten Hag has made at Old Trafford in his maiden season in charge. The conversation also featured a question about Marcus Rashford's form and what is his best position.

"I don't think he's a striker," Ferguson told Sky Sports. "He operates from the left-hand side fantastic, his finishing is always good, always keeps his shots down which is really important for a striker and he's in a great vein of form."

Rashford has been nothing short of sensational for United this season, scoring a very impressive 25 goals in all competitions so far. Without him, however, it is often wondered where the goals would come from.

Ferguson added: "Unfortunately for us, [Rashford] is the main source of goals, we could do with an extra one - but he's doing it."

What Ferguson meant by an "extra one", of course, was a striker. United do not
