Erik ten Hag explains Manchester United team vs Man City as Ronaldo and Casemiro on bench

Erik ten Hag has named an unchanged Premier League starting XI to face Manchester City as he wants to show 'trust' in his players that have been performing well.

United return to Premier League action for the first time in 28 days on Sunday when they come up against neighbours City. Ten Hag's side are currently on a four-game winning streak but have been unable to extend it for nearly a month after the league was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the international break.

United's last Premier League outing saw them pick up a 3-1 victory over the undefeated Arsenal and Ten Hag has decided to name the same starting XI that played that day, made possible by Marcus Rashford's late return from an ankle injury. Some fans expected changes to be made to the side, with many wanting to see Casemiro come in for his first domestic start to help combat City's strong midfield.

However, Ten Hag has stuck with the same team and has explained why. He told MUTV: "When you have players back fit and I think they have some good performances in and when you're doing fairly well it's good to give them the trust.

"I think they showed in the last weeks before the break that they can do it in this line-up. So we are confident that we can get a result and we can get a win. I think it's always about you. We respect our opponents, we respect the players they bring on the pitch. They have really good players. Clear.

"But you have to play as a team in all the elements of football, it's not only about attacking. I think everything and especially in this game because we play a top team, has to be right to get a result. In every aspect, we have to be good."
