Erik ten Hag could have perfect Manchester United wildcard to play vs West Ham

Having conceded a late penalty to lose to Brighton in midweek, Manchester United will be desperate to get back to winning ways against West Ham on Sunday. It would likely be a 'simpler' game if the Hammers were mathematically safe from relegation, but they are almost certain to be playing Premier League football next season.

David Moyes' side will welcome United to the London Stadium knowing a point would realistically keep them in the division. The London outfit are unlikely to play for a draw, yet, they would certainly not be too disappointed if it finished 0-0. For Erik ten Hag's men, meanwhile, a defeat would see the pressure start to mount.

While United's struggles away from home have come against the teams in the top half of the table, an away clash at West Ham will never be an easy game. Given the Reds failed to get on the scoresheet against Brighton on Thursday night, Ten Hag could be tempted make a couple of changes.

Anthony Martial once again struggled in front of goal, and Wout Weghorst - a player who is unlikely to return to Old Trafford next season - has gone from being a starter to see minimal minutes off the bench. Ten Hag's striker issues are clear and obvious, so it would not come as a surprise to see the Dutchman start Marcus Rashford through the middle this weekend.

The England international plays better on the left flank, but ultimately, he is the Reds' most lethal forward and always looks the most likely to make things happen.
