Erik ten Hag admission hints at unthinkable Man United transfer decision thanks to FA Cup win

With less than two weeks to go until their opening game of the European Championship, England supporters are anxiously waiting to find out if Luke Shaw will be fit.

The Manchester United defender has been a staple for the Three Lions at each of the last two major tournaments, cementing himself as Gareth Southgate's first-choice left-back. Despite his injury struggles this season, he has still made Southgate's provisional 33-man squad.

However, he will play no part in tonight's friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina after missing training on Sunday. He has not played since February 18 after sustaining a muscle injury that forced him off in United's 2-1 win at Luton Town.

Southgate, when naming his provisional squad almost a fortnight ago, said the defender was "up against it" ahead of the tournament. As a result, it could be touch and go for him to make the final 26-man squad that must be named by 11pm this Friday.

Coupled with Tyrell Malacia's season on the sidelines, Shaw's struggles this term meant United faced their fair share of challenges at left-back. Shaw made just 15 appearances in all competitions, meaning Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bissaka regularly deputised on the left of the back four.

Ahead of next season, United are planning for plenty of transfer activity, with Ineos determined to make much-needed alterations. It is understood United plan to sign a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker as leading priorities.
